Chiropractic

As a full-service holistic practice, Dr. Tonweya Langille believes in using every technique possible to allow the body to heal itself.  We are a premier provider of services in Council Bluffs, Iowa for sports injuries and rehabilitation.  Our non-invasive treatments for sports injuries and performance problems include those for shoulder, knee, and back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, and a wide variety of other problems, as well as sports chiropractic preventative care.

Our chiropractor is a parent and takes a specific interest in prenatal, postnatal, and child chiropractic care.  He has taken advanced training in working with infertility, pregnancy, and child wellness.

Auto accident injuries are more common than we’d like to admit.  One of the most common results of auto accidents is whiplash.  Many of our patients don’t feel any symptoms for days or even weeks after the initial accident.  While whiplash isn’t a serious injury, it can have long-term effects that can have consequences that are felt at work, at home, or during many leisure activities.

Sciatica (pronounced sigh-at-eh-kah) is not a medical diagnosis in and of itself—it is a symptom of an underlying medical condition. Common lower back problems that can cause sciatica symptoms include a lumbar herniated disc, degenerative disc disease, spondylolisthesis, or spinal stenosis.  Spinal adjustments and manual manipulation performed by Dr. Langille focuses on providing better spinal column alignment, which in turn helps address a number of underlying conditions that can cause sciatic nerve pain.

And speaking of lower back problems, perhaps the most common reason we see patients in our office is persistent, chronic back pain.  Back pain, even the mildest variety, can be debilitating when it goes on for a long time.  When Dr. Langille treats back pain, the first step is to find the cause of the pain to help determine how to prevent it from happening again.  Only after that will we attempt to treat the pain itself.

Disorders of the nervous system and musculoskeletal system can impact general health and make it difficult to perform routine activities with ease. Many pain medications mask the symptoms but do little to improve the underlying condition. They may also make it hard to read, drive, and perform activities that require focus and attention. Patients turn to chiropractic services to help ease the pain in the joints, neck or back, as well as addressing headaches and muscle stiffness.

Chiropractic adjustments are a hands-on and drug-free approach to support the body’s natural healing process. Subtle adjustments are made to the spinal column or affected area to rebalance the spine. Spinal manipulation is performed to restore joint mobility and is often needed in cases of a tissue injury. Patients can experience reduced muscle tightness and discomfort after a single visit. Multiple sessions are often required as part of a patient’s chiropractic plan. Chiropractic is seen as a conservative approach in wellness care.  Some of the treatment options we offer are spinal adjustments, exercises, lifestyle changes, and massage therapy.

School Physicals

We offer student sports physicals, which includes a chiropractic visit.

corrective exercises

Corrective Exercises

We teach our patients special "blueprint" exercises to help strengthen and correct their own unique problem. These exercises can be performed in the comfort of your own home and can improve the effectiveness of your spinal correction. In addition to skeletal misalignment, muscles and connective tissues can be out of place or strained by improper alignment and use. Specific exercises and stretches can help your body stay in balance and in health.  Corrective, strengthening exercises are directed by Dr. Langille and taught by his Certified Passive and Active Chiropractic Assistants.

lifestyle advice

Lifestyle Advice

We often find it helpful to "coach" our patients on certain activities they should avoid or do differently to avoid aggravating their particular health challenge. Our goal is to help every patient achieve a fulfilling and happy lifestyle full of the activities they enjoy most. We recognize that each our patient is a whole person, and help them reach true health and wellness is a collaborate effort between our professionals and our patients.
