Chiropractic care is a science and art, which has a rich history in Iowa as it was first discovered in Davenport, Iowa. A man named D.D. Palmer restored another man's hearing by putting direct force from posterior to anterior on a painful spinal protrusion. This was an amazing and rare ocurrence that truly sparked the interest in this approach to health that believes how our spine and the nervous system is functioning affects virtually all aspects of our health. Palmer went on to develop the fountainhead of chiropractic, Palmer College, and since 1897 thousands of specialists are practicing worldwide as part of an adjusting force of 60,000 plus. Chiropractic doctoral training is quite extensive in orthopedic, neurologic, and musculoskeletal assessment. The primary form of care for chiropractors is the spinal adjustment or extremity adjustment which entails a specific correction to spinal joints or tissues that are "subluxed," a term referring to a partial dislocation of joint which in misalignment causes spinal and neural interference. If your spine is subluxed or simply put-out of alignment-you may have symptoms or you may not for a long period of time. In other words your symptoms are a late indicator of spinal conditions such, as scoliosis for example, in the same way that cavity pain is a late indicator of tooth decay. Nerves and tissues can sustain a great deal of stress before symptoms appear. The upside is that you feel fine, the downside is unless you get your spine checked, you likely have some areas that are not functioning at their full potential. The reason: The world we live in is complex and challenging to the our bodies in many ways. Thoughts, Traumas, Toxins are the three main challenges we face, which could be potential contributors to most all spinal or body conditions, Physical, Chemical, and Emotional. Thorough spinal checkups, Myovision scans, Footlevers evaluation, digital X-rays, and postural analysis are various powerful tools used in this office to look for potential spinal problems. The spine is an amazing part of our bodies because it allows such a variety of ranges of motion and elegant function all the while housing the nervous system composed of the brain, spinal cord, and the great network of nerves that branch from it. The nervous system is the ultimate integrator of all body function and communicates for each cell, tissue, and organ of the body depends solely upon what protects them--the spinal joints and their supporting muscles and ligaments. Spinal care is a vital part of your health and chiropractors are the best providers to help. Dr. Langille provides relief and wellness care for patients of all types. He recommends that young children during or between their growth and development stages are especially able to enjoy the benefits of chiropractic care and often respond amazingly to regular check-ups. His older patients appreciate his attention to detail and gentle forms of adjusting.
