Patient Forms
Upon entering our office, our receptionist will welcome you as a member of our chiropractic family. We will request that you complete our patient forms located in the New Patient Center. This paperwork provides us with your health history and information on your condition.
Consultation
Next, you will have a consultation with one of our doctors (Dr. Tonweya Langille, Dr. Roger Gutshall, or Dr. Parker Struebing) to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, and potential treatment options. This initial visit is designed for the doctor to learn more about you, your condition, and expectations to determine how chiropractic care can meet your goals.
Examination
After your consultation, one of our doctors will perform a complete chiropractic examination testing your reflexes and flexibility. Other standard neurological, orthopedic, postural, and physical tests will be performed as well. However, everything done in our office is completed with your consent.
CR Digital X-Ray
Depending on your specific condition, we may take digital X-rays as well. X-rays help us develop the most effective treatment plan for you, and alert us of any serious spinal conditions. Most people are amazed once they see their digital X-rays up close. In some cases, they can even identify their misalignments and degeneration themselves.
Computed
Radiography (CR) uses very similar equipment to conventional radiography except that in place of a film to create the image, an
imaging plate (IP) made of photostimulable phosphor is used. The imaging
plate housed in a special cassette and placed under the body part or
object to be examined and the x-ray exposure is made. Hence, instead of
taking an exposed film into a darkroom for developing in chemical tanks
or an automatic film processor, the imaging plate is run through a
special laser scanner, or CR reader, that reads and digitizes the image.
The digital image can then be viewed and enhanced using software that
has functions such as contrast, brightness, filtration and zoom.
Advantages to Digital X-Rays:
Image quality is superior to conventional films and often more is there to be examined. CR digital X-ray requires fewer retakes which results in lower overall dose to the patient. No silver based film or chemicals- more environmentally friendly Images can be stored digitally and emailed or copied easily for other health care providers. Image acquisition is much faster - image previews can be available in less than 45 seconds. Images can be enhanced digitally to aid in interpretation.
Very few Council Bluffs/Omaha Chiropractors have digital X-rays.
MyoVision - Spinal Thermography
In the last one hundred years chiropractic techniques and evaluation methods have changed a great deal. Chiropractors have since their earliest times used electrical and temperature detectors along the spine to detect interference and imbalances. Developments have progressed by leaps and bounds in this field. Myovision employed NASA scientists to develop sensitive detectors to assess electrical activity of all regions of the spine in order to help chiropractors easily detect areas of interference and imbalance. This tool has fortunately been used to help with improved treatment efficiency and quantitatively measuring progress. The exam is painless, risk free, and is included in your initial exam. You may schedule this exam as a part of a free consultation with the Doctor as well.

Postural Photo Analysis
There are some 365,000,000 possible postures of the spine. Some are obviously healthier than others.Posture is one of the most important things to consider for your spine and overall health. It affects everything from your mood to how fast your joints will break down. The goal of posture analysis is to identify distortions such as hiked hip or shoulder, rotated knees, head tilt, etc. and correlate that with other findings. It is a good starting point in identifying which exercises will help improve structural function. It is also a good way to re-evaluate postural improvements or changes that may occur during care.
Stabilizing Orthotics
Most people with foot imbalances experience little or no pain in their feet. Instead, the pain is transferred to other areas of your body. Your feet are the foundation of your entire body, and having proper posture is the best way to support your body. If you have weakness or unstable positioning in either foot, it can contribute to knee pain, back pain or neck pain. By balancing your feet, Stabilizers help improve your posture, enhance your body's performance and efficiency, reduce pain, and contribute to your total body wellness.
Stabilizing Orthotics were made by a chiropractor to treat the body as a functional unit and give you the support you need. They support the 26 bones and over 100 muscles in each of your feet to protect your foundation. You can maintain your feet's 3-arched structure, the plantar vault, to balance the entire body with our orthotics. They're unique - just like you!
Report of Findings
Once the information is collected and examinations are performed, the Doctor will give you a detailed report of all findings and answer any questions including:
1. How can you help me?
2. How often do I need to come in?
3. What will my treatment cost?
After discussing your history and your goals, examining your
spine, and reviewing any digital x-rays or tests, the Doctor will discuss
recommendations with you. If you have a condition that requires care
with other providers, the doctor will tell you. If the Doctor believes we can help you, we will recommend a treatment plan and a
wellness program.
At the conclusion of this initial appointment, you can choose to experience your first treatment. This may include spinal adjustments, physical therapy, and/or soft tissue massage. Treatment is interactive, so you can express concerns about the different styles of treatment anytime.
Wellness Program
Prior to leaving, the Doctor will suggest a wellness program to incorporate outside of treatment. If you are in pain when you first come into our office this may include: ice or heat application instructions, certain activities or positions to avoid, and at home exercises and/or stretches. If you desire, our wellness team will work with you also to create healthy habits and routines for your lifestyle. Every person is unique, therefore everyone requires a customized wellness plan. The purpose of our wellness program is for you to achieve good spinal alignment, have a healthy diet, exercise, and maintain a positive mental state.
